OBPTN: 4 St. Louis Cops Indicted for Beating Undercover Cop & Kevin Opts Out of Hosting Oscars

4 St. Louis Cops Indicted for Beating Protestor Who Was an Undercover Officer

This week four St. Louis cops were indicted for assaulting protestors and brutally beating an undercover cop.

In September of 2017 after police officer Jason Stockley was acquitted for killing 24-year-old Anthony Lamar Smith, after Stockley witnessed Smith making a drug transaction and chased him down and shot him with a banned firearm (all seen on his dashcam), four St. Louis police officers used the public protests as covers to beat protesters for fun.

According to the Washington Post, St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Dustin Boone, 35, sent the following text on September 25, 2017. “It’s gonna get IGNORANT tonight!!! It’s gonna be a lot of fun beating the hell out of these s—heads once the sun goes down and nobody can tell us apart!!!!”

Boone along with two other officers, Randy Hays, 31, and Christopher Myers, 27, apparently then attacked a Black protestor  later that evening. The protester happened to be a 22-year veteran of the city police department who was working undercover to help control the protests. Documents show the man only listed as LH.

Reports say LH did not resist when approached by the officers, yet they beat him so badly he still has not returned to work over a year later. Post Dispatch stated his injuries as the following, “a two-centimeter hole above his lip, an injured tailbone and back injuries that required surgery” and that they were so bad, LH could not eat which resulted in him losing 20 lbs.

The three male officers were indicted for assault on Thursday. They were also indicted for attack along with the fourth officer, Bailey Colletta, 25, who was romantically involved with Boone.

It is said that the officers gave false statements in the weeks following  the attack and even tried contacting LH and dissuading him from pursuing the charges.

Kevin Hart Opts Out of Oscars Hosting Gig

On Wednesday night, comedian/ actor/producer, Kevin Hart was announced as the host for the 91st Oscars but by Thursday night Hart was stepping down.

Apparently after the announcement of Hart’s hosting was made, there was much uproar about anti-gay tweets Hart had made years ago.

Hart took to Instagram to first address the backlash Thursday evening, saying that he has grown since then.

“Guys, I’m nearly 40 years old. If you don’t believe that people change, grow, evolve as they get older, I don’t know what to tell you. If you want to hold people in a position where they always have to justify the past, do you. I’m the wrong guy, man.”

Stop looking for reasons to be negative…Stop searching for reasons to be angry….I swear I wish you guys could see/feel/understand the mental place that I am in. I am truly happy people….there is nothing that you can do to change that…NOTHING. I work hard on a daily basis to spread positivity to all….with that being said. If u want to search my history or past and anger yourselves with what u find that is fine with me. I’m almost 40 years old and I’m in love with the man that I am becoming. You LIVE and YOU LEARN & YOU GROW & YOU MATURE. I live to Love….Please take your negative energy and put it into something constructive. Please….What’s understood should never have to be said. I LOVE EVERYBODY…..ONCE AGAIN EVERYBODY. If you choose to not believe me then that’s on you….Have a beautiful day

However, many saw Hart’s actions as being defiant, and the Oscars gave him an ultimatum, either he could apologize for his tweets or step down.

In a second Instagram video, Hart shared that he opted to step down.

“I chose to pass on the apology,” the 39-year-old actor-comedian said in the video. “The reason why I passed is because I’ve addressed this several times. This is not the first time this has come up. I’ve addressed it. I’ve spoken on it. I’ve said where the rights and wrongs were. I’ve said who I am now versus who I was then. I’ve done it. I’m not going to continue to go back and tap into the days of old when I’ve moved on and I’m in a completely different place in my life.”
