Pier Pressure, but Make It Fashion

An all pink look from Andrew Nowell's Collection

Freedom Pier at National Harbor transformed into a pink-hued style haven on April 19 for Pink on The Pier, a sunset runway experience that beautifully blended fashion, nature, and culture. Presented by Studio Couture, the show offered guests an immersive view of emerging design talent against the tranquil backdrop of the waterfront and peak cherry blossom vibes.

The weather was flawless, perfectly matching the tone of the afternoon. Guests were adorned in their best pink attire. We took our seats on the narrow boardwalk, which doubled as the ultimate runway. Of the lineup, Andrew Nowell Menswear was the undisputed standout. Nowell’s background in design traces back to the High School of Art and Design and, later, the Fashion Institute of Technology, where he studied Menswear Design. His menswear collection struck the perfect balance of elegance with an urban edge. Pink tones were expertly woven into a palette of neutrals, giving the pieces a dapper and distinctive flair. Sophistication, craftsmanship, and swagger are present in every stitch.

In conclusion, as the final looks made their way down the catwalk, a shared sense of joy and support filled the pier. The attendees’ energy was electric, lifting the designers and celebrating their creativity. Events like Pink on The Pier prove that the DMV region is becoming a vibrant space for emerging fashion. Hopefully, this is only the beginning.
