Most of us set goals all the time, and with the entering of the new year, I’m sure many people have recently set goals. The thing with setting goals is that it’s great to set them and have something to set out and achieve, but I think
Most people forget that they also must be measurable.
Goals can be measured either qualitatively or quantitatively.
When we measure quantitative goals, this means we count them or their some number involved. Â
For example, for this quarter I almost wrote more press placements overall for our clients, but then I asked myself how can I measure this, and I decided to think of a realistic number, meaning I considered what I figured my team and I could actually pull together collectively. I decided to instead say we would achieve 50 press placements for clients this first quarter. Â
So that’s quantitative. Now if you want to measure a goal qualitatively, you need to define what the success of that goal looks like. you can ask yourself questions. How would it feel? What would it change? By what standards can you determine its impact? What type of feedback would you like to hear from customers?Â
It’s equally important to be able to clearly measure your goals to better determine not only if you hit your target but also how you hit your target so you can tweak things for next time.Â
Now before we go further in 2021, take a minute to go back and look over your goals and be sure you have your measurements in place too.Â
