In the world of pageantry and purpose, stature takes on a new meaning for Angelica Smith. The Red Springs, North Carolina native and reigning Ms. Universal Petite is a shining example of how an HBCU education shapes not only careers, but confidence, character, and stature. A proud graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, Angelica now thrives in Washington, D.C. as an Events Manager for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund—proof that her presence is as powerful behind the scenes as it is on the stage.
For Angelica, her stature is rooted in something far deeper than height. As a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the founder of her platform Stature Does Not Determine Strength, she champions the idea that women of all sizes can stand tall in their truth. “Being an HBCU student means walking in legacy, culture, pride, and purpose every day,” she shares. Her A&T experience equipped her to show up polished, purpose-driven, and unapologetically herself—bringing a regal energy and unmistakable stature to every room she enters.

Her journey through A&T’s Sports Science and Fitness Management program laid the groundwork for a career built on community impact and dynamic engagement. Now, she uses her unique skill set to create transformative events and youth initiatives that empower others to find their voice and embrace their inner leader. Whether she’s coordinating conferences or coaching through her company BeYOUnique Academy, Angelica leads with integrity and intention—her stature on full display.
Looking ahead, Angelica envisions building bridges between HBCU royalty and the world of pageantry, traveling the country to teach public speaking, branding, and poise. Her message is clear: true stature comes from within.
This HBCU Shared Experience spotlight celebrates Angelica Smith for reminding us that our greatness isn’t measured in inches—it’s measured in impact.
