The 2026 BET Awards happened last night, and we are breaking it all down in the SwagHer Daily Brief! Janet Jackson made a surprise appearance to present Teyana Taylor with the Icon of the Year Award, leaving the entire internet in tears. Teyana also swept the night with Fashion Vanguard, Video Director of the Year, and Best Actress. And Keke Palmer walked up to host Druski, snatched the mic, and let BET know what she really thought — live on air.

We also honor Mother Khadijah Farrakhan, First Lady of the Nation of Islam and wife of Minister Louis Farrakhan, who passed Friday at the age of 90 after 72 years of marriage. The Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium awarded $350,000 in grants as part of their Joy and Justice Tour. And HBCU founders competed in the first-ever pitch competition at Times Square during New York Tech Week — with Bowie State’s Carolyn Alston taking the $5,000 grand prize.

Plus: the SwagHer Magazine Black Women of the Future Anniversary Issue is coming in August — full-page digital ads available now for just $100. Email advertise@swagher.net.
