SwagHer Magazine x The Passion Xperience presents: More Than A Pretty Face (Episode 8)

To kick off Women’s History Month, host Brittany Passion interviewed Non-Profit Director Shandrea Moody-Wilson. In this recap video, @Brittany_Passion , sits down with this queen to discuss challenges student athletes face, finding your purpose, faith and the importance of having a great team. Shandrea Moody-Wilson also expresses the struggles with starting a nonprofit and what people can do to get the process started. Her daughter’s passion and athleticism is what motivated Shandrea to begin “Urban Not Average”. Urban Not Average, is a Los Angeles based nonprofit raising public awareness to some of the most talented student athletes worldwide who have a bright future ahead of them, but they face financial challenges causing them to miss out on the opportunity to participate.

For the past two years, up until the pandemic, Urban Not Average was able to provide enough funding for students in socioeconomic communities to participate in not only sports, but performing arts as well. With sports and performing arts slowly returning and restrictions being lifted, Urban Not Average is resuming their call to action with sponsorships, partnerships, and campaigns to bring awareness to this matter.
