Christina: What is your SwagHer? What makes LaTarsha, LaTarsha?

LaTarsha: My SwagHer is falling in love with purpose and not perfection. What makes LaTarsha is my love and compassion for humanity. I have a true desire to comfort those who are going through hard times. I want to inspire, encourage, and spread hope through my gifts and talents.

Christina: Your story is pretty incredible. You went from being a homeless mother of six to a 2017 political candidate and published author with a doctorate. Please tell our readers a little bit about your journey. When you were homeless, did you think you would be where you are now?

LaTarsha: It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, working my way up from rock bottom. I did not set out to run for office, write books, or get a grad degree. My journey was so heavy and full of many unknowns. I initially set out to liberate my family from the chains of hopelessness and homelessness, and greatness followed. What God has done in my life sometimes it leaves me speechless. The mental shift that took place was almost unbearable, but God saw me through it.

Christina: Why did you choose Leadership Studies to get a doctorate in?

LaTarsha: I knew the importance of personal development, so I wanted to be an effective leader in any direction God sends me. I believe that we need more leaders in love with humanity and not in love with titles.

Christina: The American Mother’s Inc chose you as Georgia’s Mother of the Year 2020. How did you feel when you found out you were chosen?

LaTarsha: After raising six children and leading them out of hopelessness and homelessness, this was an honor that I do not take lightly. I was at a loss for words when I found out that I was chosen to represent GA. as Mother of The Year “2020.” I believe this was God’s way of saying well done to me as a mother. I did not have a lot to offer my six children materially, but the two things I had to offer them was unconditional love and to show them how to serve at their lowest. My legacy to my six children is “Service to Others.”

Christina: Tell our readers about your product and T-shirt line, Genuine Expressions. Why did you decide to start it?

LaTarsha: When I was homeless, there were several sayings I use to say to myself when the journey became too hard. I wanted to encourage others on their journey, so I created an inspirational t-shirt and product line to give them hope as well.

Christina: What are three words that describe you?

LaTarsha: Love, Compassion & Service.

Christina: You have a comic book out, The Light Shall Rule. What is it about? Why did you decide to write a comic book vs. a novel?

LaTarsha: I created a Christian comic book when the world went on its first lockdown in April due to COVID-19. I wanted a creative way to encourage others that God is with us, even in our darkest hour. I had fun creating the characters, but the message is what was especially important to me.

Christina: If you could go back and give your past self advice or words of wisdom, what would you say?

LaTarsha: Dance to the beat of your soul! Live out loud and fearlessly! You have the power to rewrite your story!

Christina: Define accomplishment in your own words.

LaTarsha: Living life on your terms and using your gifts to make a difference in the world.

Christina: Do you have any upcoming events or projects coming up that you would like our readers to know about?

LaTarsha: I have a new book that will be released on September 15th, titled Leadership Principles: The Power of Personal Development.

Christina: Is there anything else you would like to share?

LaTarsha: Be kind and compassionate to others. We are all trying to figure this thing out called life.
