Fancy: How did you fall in love with writing?

Waletta: I fell in love with writing by watching my older brothers and sisters. They loved writing and telling stories. I watched as their words piqued the emotions of the readers, I believe my love of writing is a gift from God that has been cultivated over the years.

Fancy: I looked over your collection of books, and the titles were really interesting. Is the “Tell Me Your Story” based on your own family?

Waletta: “Tell Me Your Story”, a family journal turns questions into memories. Imagine sitting with your cherished loved ones as they travel down memory lane. “Tell Me Your Story” will lead you on a journey through the yesteryears. The voyage will strengthen your relationships as you learn more about your loved ones, your family, and yourself. “Tell Me Your Story” is sure to become a cherished family keepsake. Here’s how it works. Find a question you want your loved one to answer or let them choose one and pass the journal back-and-forth answering the questions as they come. There’s even a section in the back where you can ask your own questions.

Fancy: Now you are about to release a new novel, “Positions of Compromise”. Can you tell us more about it and what inspired it?

Waletta: “Positions of Compromise” is inspired by recent headlines. It is the story of fifty-two-year-old Loretta Jenkins, who refuses to let age slow her down. She throws herself into her job as a human resources manager at Westcott Steel Building. Dubbed as “at-work-mom,” Loretta is drawn into two reluctant friendships: one with her assistant, Dani Ferguson, and another with Pearl, the Vice President’s receptionist. Dani and her husband have been praying for another child for years. Her desperation for another child is wreaking havoc on her marriage and causing her to lose faith in God. Can she find a way to trust God and save her marriage? Pearl had been living in her vehicle when she landed the job as a receptionist for the Vice President of Westcott Steel Buildings. She soon becomes the object of his sexual advances. Pearl is faced with making a wrenching decision: keep quiet or lose her job. Even as Loretta is forced to take medical leave, she continues to work from home. When company information is leaked to the media, Loretta sets out to find the source of the leak. What she discovers is more than a breach of confidentiality, it is “Positions of Compromise”.

Fancy: This book is a part of a trilogy correct? Do you plan to further the Ferguson family story?

Waletta: “Positions of Compromise” is not a part of my trilogy. It is a stand-alone, but it does include members of the Ferguson family.

Fancy: Oh, ok. Who are some of your favorite Christian authors?

Waletta: I have several favorite Christian authors. Kimberly Lawson Roby, Kim Cash Tate, Michelle Stimpson, Melinda Michelle, Leah Atwood, M A Malcolm, and Ann Marie Bryan are a few of my favorites.

Fancy: What books are you currently reading?

Waletta: I just started reading “Almost There” by Rhonda McKnight. I’ve read several of her books and enjoyed them. I’m sure this one will be good as well.

Fancy: How do you practice self-care?

Waletta: My self-care routine includes praying and bible reading, daily exercise, and healthy eating. However, my healthy eating routine leaves a lot to be desired.

Fancy: Do you have any upcoming projects or events that you care to share?
