SwagHer Spotlights: Michelle Boulden Hammond

Michelle Boulden Hammond is a 48-year-old multi-talented woman that handles her faith, marriage, business and professional relationships with the power of inspirations. A small-town country girl from Talbot County, MD who has risen above life challenges from birth defect to low self-esteem, rejection, and mental abuse.

She received her Masters of Arts in Human Services in Counseling from Liberty University and holds CLC Certificate from International Coaching Federation. Michelle with her charismatic personality has the power that gives individuals influence to move beyond their now. In her book called, “Seize the Moment A Moment To Inspire” which was released in October 2017 takes individuals on a 30-day affirmation and meditation journey that is life-changing.

Michelle also is a member of the BSN Black Speakers Network, and in this capacity, she has hosted and traveled nationally and internationally for women empowerment conferences. In October 2018 she launched a group called TEAM M. A. B. B. ( Mind, Affirmations, Beauty & Boldness ). This group features four amazing ladies, along with Michelle, from the arenas of fashion, beauty, and mental wellness. Michelle’s hosted ‘Warm Your Heart, Warm Your Mind, Warm Your Soul’, which is a spiritual awakening women’s empowerment retreat for mind, body, and soul, will be celebrating its 10th year.

Meet Michelle below.

Fancy: How would you describe your swagher? What makes Michelle, Michelle?

Michelle: My swagher is that I walk with confidence and bravery to make things happen. What makes Michelle, Michelle? I am considered the loving old soul, the encourager, genuine.

Fancy: What attracted you to coaching, and how did you get into that field?

Michelle: I was attracted to coaching 10 years ago but launched into making it a business three years ago. I gained certification through Certified Coaching Alliances and then proceeded to ICF.

Fancy: So tell us more about TEAM M.A.B.B.

Michelle: Team M.A.B.B is the acronym for Mind, Affirmation, Beauty, & Boldness. In 2018, I launched this group compelled of the following four ladies: radio personality of DdTalks Diane Daiga; transformational coach Amina Carter; therapist of mental detox Dr. Valeka Moore; and celebrity makeup artist Linette Michelle Howard. We first came together for a luncheon to empower women. We now host yearly lunches and are exploring the idea of touring in various cities. This group is designed for helping empower women to use their minds to be creative. Second, make affirmations daily. Beauty is a bountiful blessing; you’re a rare diamond. Fourth, be bold to stand out even when circumstances are difficult and challenging.

Fancy: Do you identify as more of an event planning organization?

Michelle: Yes, we do.

What can attendees expect of the ‘Warm Your Hear, Warm Your Mind, Warm Your Mind’ retreat? The attendees can expect a life-changing experience wealth of knowledge for mind body and soul. I have been blessed to know the owner who has a waterfront property bed and breakfast on the water. They will leave with peace and tranquility.

Michelle: Yes, there are. I usually have 10 ladies from a homeless shelter come, and I love to have at least coverage for daycare for the ladies for the one day.

Fancy: You mentioned overcoming several hardships and a birth defect. Do you mind telling us what the birth defect is or was and how are things now?

Michelle: Well to begin, I was born with clubbed feet, and my legs and feet were inward. The doctors said that I wouldn’t be able to walk, but God knew. Today I walk fine. I may have scars, but I can walk perfectly. I still have the shoes today that I had to wear until I was three.

Fancy: Wow. Do you feel that your past experiences in life though painful, helped equipped you to be more understanding and/or patient to others in your work today?

Michelle: Absolutely the past of being homeless and surviving domestic violence. I have empathy and compassion to understand the trauma that comes along with these life experiences.

Fancy: How do you practice self-care?

Michelle: I practice self-care by first meditating in the morning, and I take a mini-vacation quarterly.

Fancy: Do you have any other events or projects that you care to share?

Michelle: Yes, in September 2020 I will be hosting an international retreat to Grenada. I will also be looking for speakers my newest book “Polished Passionate Poised: Memoir For The World Changer”.
