If you grew up in the ’90s, then you got to remember the popular sitcom ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ that ran for six seasons in 1990-1996 that starred Will Smith, who played himself and moved in with his rich family in Bel-Air. Westbrook Media announced Monday about the reunion special, which marks the show’s 30th anniversary. What better way to celebrate it then to have a special reunion on HBO Max? The castmates will be reunited together again like Tatyana Ali, who played Ashley Banks, Alfonzo Ribeiro, who played Carlon Banks, Karyn Parsons, who played the diva and sassy Hilary Banks, Joseph Marcell, who played the family’s butler Geoffrey, DJ Jazzy Jeff who played the annoying family friend Jaz, Daphne Maxell Reid who played Vivian Banks and let’s not forget James Avery who passed away in 2013 played Phillip “Uncle Phil†Banks.Â
Taping will start on September 10, 2020, that is the anniversary date, but will officially air on HBO Max sometime around Thanksgiving. Mark Raboy will direct the reunion, and Rikki Hughes will serve as executive producer. Cooper will also co-write the script as well as serving as a co-executive producer. Last year, director Morgan Cooper released a fake movie trailer that was set in the modern-day that explores serious issues such as police brutality, gang crime, and wealth inequality. The real trailer was released March of 2019 as Smith and Cooper both teamed up making the trailer. The whole reunion special will be an hour-long reliving some of the comedy from the 1990-1996 TV sitcom and highlighting some of the issues of Black men in America today. Â
