Agh…the freshness of fall. The summer heat dies down, and the cool, crisp feeling of fall takes over. I don’t know about you, but this curvy girl enjoys the season change and the breeze accompanying it! Fall gives off such a great feeling. Reminiscent of school days, I can’t help but crave wanting a new wardrobe, new journals, new organizers, pens…you got the drift! The colors of fall are so comforting and invigorating, too, with beautiful cranberry reds, deep oranges, complimentary browns, and greys. We can thank Mother Nature for the incredible color palette and inspiration.
Studies have shown that throughout centuries, the importance of color in conjunction with a person’s mood goes hand in hand. The language of color speaks volumes, able to steer a person away from possible depressions and anxieties. Are you looking for a fresh start? Utilize color and everything at our fingertips for a much-needed boost of freshness!
Shades of Green (Hunter / Forest, Olive, Emerald, etc.) – Just because most of the leaves are no longer green doesn’t eliminate the color altogether! Deep greens and even light olive greens are coveted colors this fall. The color green speaks to new beginnings and especially money! Green is the color most associated with fruition, fertility, newness, and what else? Freshness! Think about wearing this color from time to time! Elders would say if you want to attract growth in your life, think about growth. Well, our minds can go thousands of miles per minute, so to help, just wear the color! Choose something as simple as a green clutch, a pair of hunter green earrings, or an olive eyeshadow.
Fall Reds (Red Wine, Cherry, Cranberry, Pomegranate, Crimson) – Red is such a bold color, but in this Autumn palette, it stands in warmth and richness. In many cultures and traditions, red is a powerful color that lends strength and courage. Red is often used to call attention to or to make a necessary statement. Use the color red this fall when feeling low or need a boost of self-confidence. When making a power move, don’t be shy! Throw on that curvy sweater dress accompanied by brown boots and bag. The color combination will help ground you in power!
Fall Oranges (Marigold, Ginger, Apricot, Sandstone, etc.) – Orange is definitely a color that makes a statement! Orange can add that splash of color that is needed to help rejuvenate your senses. Make it fun! Pair it with blue to really help your mood sing! Orange has been associated with fall favorites such as pumpkin and spice. It gives off a warm, cozy feel but can also be that extra pop of color full of energy! Orange is a youthful color, giving off a nostalgic vibe of being in school or swinging on the monkey bars. We could all use some “youthful energy” to help us to remember that life is what you make it!
Complimentary Blues (Royal Blue, Navy Blue, Powder Blue, Denim, etc..) – The color blue is such a great partner to any fall color palette you choose. Some would lean more towards the deeper, darker blues, whereas many who want to be “daring” would select a powder blue or denim to bring an interesting contrast. Blue is a color of stability, poise, and authority. If you look at the world of Law Enforcement, blue is commonly used. Are you seeking to be a better leader on your job? Are you looking to establish yourself as an authority? Consider wearing blue from time to time, especially if you have a meeting or presentation.
On the contrary, blue is also reminiscent of the ocean and its different hues. This color can work with almost any color and bring a sense of serenity. If you are looking for a little bit more calmness and balance in your life, consider wearing soft blues. You will see how the different hues are both strong but have their unique way of “recharging” your life!
Shades of Brown (Chocolate, Coffee, Cinnamon, Pecan, etc.) – Brown is the quintessential color of fall. Brown is one of the best (if not THE best) complementary colors for fall. From beautiful chocolate brown loafers to cinnamon-colored skirts, the choices are endless! Even with makeup options, browns are beautiful in creating a sultry eye or in selecting a neutral lip color.
Brown is a grounding color that can provide a person with a better sense of self. This fall, think about becoming more settled in your thinking and decision-making. When everything around you is going haywire, look for ways to ground your mind, body, and spirit, so you are not thrown off balance.
Shades of Purple (Plum, Violet, Amethyst, Orchid, etc.) – Purple! What a lively color for the fall! The color purple is often associated with life, passion, royalty. This is one color that I never really owned but will definitely include in my fall wardrobe for 2021! Why? I want to live a passionate life royally! Life is so super short and should be lived well! We are often bogged down with nonsensical issues that take up so much of our time and energy and even rob us of our health! Purple is powerful and can reignite! Passionate plums, soft violets, and exciting orchids can be liberating, paired with another fall color!
There are many colors to choose from this fall that will have you feeling fresh and revitalized! Adding color is just one of the many first steps a person can take to invite a new vibration into their lives. The same powerful colors can be used to decorate your home and make it what you need it to be in this crazy world we live in. Many will read this article and say, “Color? Really?”…I am here to say, “Really.” We live in a world that is recovering from 2020. We need to tap into every positive power that we have access to!
