The Kendricks Brothers’ new faith-based movie, “The Forge,” gives hope.

Every once in a while, a good faith-based movie is released to get you stirred. Most people hear of faith-based blockbuster movies and immediately think of Tyler Perry or Bishop T.D. Jakes. However, some new names and faces are taking faith-based films to another level and have been doing so for the last ten years. They have written, produced, and directed films such as “War Room,” “Overcomer,” and “Courageous,” just to name a few!

The Kendrick Brothers are two brothers who hail from Albany, a city just a couple of hours outside of Atlanta’s hustle and bustle. The town may be small, but the impact these brothers make with their films is huge!

I had the distinct honor of attending a private prescreening of their highly anticipated latest release, “The Forge,” at AMC Regal Atlanta Midtown this past week, and it was truly an experience. This private RSVP-only event was sponsored by Atlanta’s #1 Gospel Radio Station, Praise 102.5, and hosted by the Christian social media influencer now Stellar Award-nominated radio host Wille Moore Jr.  The doors didn’t open until 6:30, but the line began forming as early as 4:30 pm and was wrapped around the building.

We were greeted by some of the cast members, such as Priscilla Shirer, an international speaker and best-selling author who made her acting debut in the Kendrick Brothers debut release “War Room” along with the main character in his breakout role as “Isaiah” played by Aspen Kennedy.

Upon check-in, we received The Forge gift bags with great goodies and thought-provoking keepsakes, including complimentary popcorn and drinks. As we entered the theater, DJ Dwight Stone set the atmosphere with praise mixes that kept us grooving and connecting with all who attended. Of course, this being Atlanta, there were some “celebrity faces” from the industry in the room, but it was such a vibe we all felt like family!!! Willie Moore Jr. introduced the cast, and we had a chance to hear from the Kendrick Brothers about the vision behind the film. Just from them sharing their heart, we knew we were not just getting ready to watch a movie; we were getting ready to have an encounter!! And that is precisely what happened!

I do not want to give the movie away, but I will say that this movie will meet everyone where they are and speak to some part of their life where healing will be experienced, and you will leave with a renewed sense of hope. The story is about a single mother and son in that tough season transitioning from high school to adulthood, the challenges they face, and how prayers are answered in ways that only God can—if you let Him!

I give this movie a 10 out of 10 and recommend everyone take the time to invest in this production, but most importantly, invest in themselves. It is truly a life-changing moment, and you will leave the theater better than you came!!

The Forge opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, August 23, 2024. To find a theater near you or learn more about the Kendrick Brothers and their films, visit https://kendrickbrothers.com.
