Tisha Campbell-Martin Receives the Key to Inglewood

Actress and singer Tisha Campbell- Martin received the key to the city of Inglewood, California earlier this month for her work spreading autism awareness. The city shared the announcement via their Facebook page.

It was with great pride and pleasure that the Mayor and Council of the City of Inglewood, California honor and salute Tisha Campbell-Martin, recipient of the Electronic Gold Flow Technologies Award of Excellence in Entertainment and Media.

By far, her most important, significant and superb roles are of a mother and advocate for Autism Awareness. In her service as a tireless advocate for Autism awareness, education and tolerance, Tisha Campbell-Martin co-founded the non-profit organization, Colored My Mind.

A heartfelt congratulations to Tisha Campbell-Martin May you continue to enjoy much success, joy and fulfillment in all your future endeavors. #inglewood

One of Tisha’s sons, Xen, was diagnosed with autism as an infant, and the actress has speculated that it may have been caused by vaccinations. In 2011, she along with other four other mothers of autistic children produced the short film “Colored My Mind”. One of the mothers was comedian and radio host DL Hughley’s wife, LaDonna Hughley. The film won at the American Pavilion at Cannes Film Festival in 2013. She also published a children’s book, My Brother Doesn’t Want to Play “to help children cope with having a sibling who is “different.””

We’ve been fans of Tisha since she played Sidney in “House Party”, but let’s not forget she was also in some other faves like Spike Lee’s “School Daze” and “Little Shop of Horror”. If you are 90’s baby, you may only think of “Martin” (“Gina”) and “My Wife and Kids” (“Jay”), but her recognition is long overdue.
