Brittney Kelley of Brittney Kelley Brands

Brittney Kelley began her journey as the founder of Brittney Kelley Handbag Collection in May of 2012. Kelley cultivated her brand and it is now sold in over 30 unique stores. In 2016, Brittney developed and introduced Chic Girl Cosmetics a hypoallergenic makeup line. She then went on to create a pioneer company, Brittney Kelley Brands, to house each of her fashion and beauty companies under one umbrella. Brittney Kelley Brands is a vegan and cruelty-free beauty and lifestyle company, comprising of Brittney Kelley Handbag Collection, Chic Girl Cosmetics and now introduces the Pink Bar Boutique.

Brittney Kelley earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration: Information Systems and Entrepreneurship at the University of Cincinnati. Brittney has a passion for philanthropy and alongside her husband has started “The Josh & Brittney Harrison’s 4 Hope Foundation”. She desires to change the way beauty is viewed in society, by encouraging the love of self-beauty and promoting happiness. Her mission is to “Empower people everywhere, to be your own kind of beautiful.” Meet the wonder woman and beauty boss below.

Fancy: You started Brittney Kelley Handbags (fashion) and then launched Chic Girl Cosmetics. Would you say you have always been a girly girl?

Brittney: Yes, I’ve always been a girly girl. I remember watching my mother get all dressed up and put on makeup when I was younger. I wanted to be her so bad. When I was younger, I dreamed of the day I would be able to have my own brand. When I got to college, I started designing and throwing fashion shows on campus to showcase my work.

Fancy: Brittney Kelley Brands is a vegan and cruelty-free beauty as most beauty brands are nowadays, but I wanted to know if it is a difficult process creating products that are vegan and cruelty-free and why did you decide to go this route being that your products were in existence several years before others?

Brittney: I have extremely sensitive skin. So, I wanted to create a product in which people (like me), would be able to use without fear of having breakouts or skin reactions.

Fancy: So you recently launched Pink Bar Boutique, can you tell us more about it?

Brittney: I created Pink Bar Boutique because I love trendy fashion. I wanted to create an outlet for women to be able to express their individuality through creative and bold fashion for an affordable price. I am also a mom that loves fashion. There aren’t many boutiques that market to women who are moms and sell trendy fashion items.

Fancy: What type of woman would you say Pink Bar Boutique is for?

Brittney: Pink Bar Boutique is for the bold trendy woman. Someone, who doesn’t mind taking chances and showing their individuality through color and uniqueness. I really want to focus on the aspect of being a mom and still being able to dress trendy and being able to express yourself through creative fashion. In 2020, we will be doing some cool collaborations focusing on this and bringing bomb moms to the forefront and utilizing them in our ads! We will be showing women that just because you’re a mom, doesn’t mean that you can’t be fashionable and express your fierceness.

Fancy: For those aspiring boutique owners out there, can you share two tips of advice?

Brittney: Of course! For advice, I would say, “Do it”. Do what you love and feel is necessary to start your business or brand. Fulfill whatever dream that you may have and never let what anyone says stop you! I would also say to do your research. There are a lot of boutiques and brands, that I don’t feel research the markets. Research to ensure that you create or provide a product or business, that separates you from everyone else. There’s enough business out there for everyone, so never stop!

Fancy: What does a day in the life of a beauty and fashion boss look like for you?

Brittney: Oh wow! A day in my life…consists of getting my kids up and out for school, heading to the gym (If I don’t get my work out in, I am not focused for the day), heading to my office, picking up the kids from school getting dinner ready and having family time. When I am at my office, I usually have daily meetings, follow-ups, content meetings, vendor meetings, photoshoots and anything else you could possibly think of lol. It is a crazy day at my office during the day. One thing that is important to me is family. I try not to miss anything with my kids and my husband. I am at all my kid’s practices, lessons and all of my husband’s games. My family is so important, and I want my girls to know that you can be a boss and still have a work-life balance.

Fancy: How would you describe your swagher? What makes Brittney, Brittney?

Brittney: Sequin, pink and anything shiny!! Ever since I was a kid, I gravitated towards anything that sparkles. I just can’t help it LOL. Just a fun fact about me, hahaha. Anyone that knows me, knows that is me!

Fancy: How do you practice self-care?

Brittney: That is a good question. I’ll be honest, I am still learning. I am used to doing everything for everyone else that I never really take time to myself. I would say the one thing that I do on a consistent basis is work out. I work out at least 3-4 times a week alone. I feel that this is my time alone and to decompress. I get massages sometimes as well. I must get better at learning how to decompress. It’s so important.

Fancy: What goals do you have for 2020?

Brittney: A few goals I have, are to do a few national campaigns for both of my brands and to do more collaborations with other great women entrepreneurs and brands.

Fancy: Do you have any other projects or events that you care to share?

Brittney: I have a new Brittney Kelley Brands Vlog, which will be released soon. It will feature a monthly video with featured guest, in which we are showcasing and talking about style culture and giving tips on how to level up in the fashion and beauty world as an individual.
