Debrayta (Dee) Salley aka Dee Life Transition Mentor Coach is a compassionate, fun-loving, resilient and God-fearing woman who enjoys writing, reading, empowering and supporting others, and hosting wellness events. She has a son and resides in Maryland. Shortly after becoming a Certified Life Coach in October of 2010, Ms. Salley began nurturing her gift and passion for writing as a tool to provide resources for others who are interested in developing both personally and spiritually. Her writings are all birthed from a place of experience and compassion under the direction of the Holy Spirit and are intended to help others unlock the broken and hidden places of life and draw them into the Lord’s light for healing, restoration, and renewal. Ms. Salley has accepted her assignment to provide encouraging resources that will: help others make conscious decisions that will render their best life experience, successfully maneuvering life transitions, and set realistic strategies for accomplishing goals.

Fancy: How would you describe your swagher? What makes Debrayta, Debrayta?
Debrayta: Debrayta’s swagher is loyal, compassionate, and resilient. She is a strong woman with an affectionate personality and an infectious sense of humor. She has been gifted to use her sense of humor to reverse the pain of any situation. It’s in silence that she gets energized but deep in the midst of serving others is where she achieves her greatest level of accomplishment.
Fancy: What inspired you to be a life coach?Â
Debrayta: I was inspired to be a life coach because most of my life I’ve had a natural ability to give others advice and guidance from a place of compassion and sincere concern. It’s something that I would do for free and a lot of times have done for those close to me and even at work. It’s such a natural thing for me to do that i tend to lose track of time doing so.
Fancy: You admit that you initially ran from your calling. Why is that and how did things change?
Debrayta: Sincerely, I ran from my calling, because I didn’t think I was “good enoughâ€. I was so entangled and burdened by my perceived flaws and struggles that I couldn’t believe that God would choose me to lead or speak to his people. Once I began to truly develop my relationship with God and learn the truth of his word, I came to know and be in agreement with the reality that He has always used broken and/or flawed people. In fact, that’s typically what qualifies those who God calls- we were ALL once lost, but He delivered and cleaned us up. To be His hands and feet in a dark world that needs the light and freedom that life in Christ brings.
Fancy:Â What topics do you typically discuss when speaking?
Debrayta: Loving Yourself
Becoming all that God has Called You to be
Bouncing back from a troubled past
The Power in your story
Fancy: Please share a little about your memoir, Back to the Scene of the Crime: Breaking Unfruitful Patterns by Bringing Hidden Things to Light.Â
Debrayta: This self-help book walks you through one woman’s journey and pattern of low self-worth, low self-esteem, and unhealthy relationships to acknowledging her need to heal and be set free from unforgiveness, bitterness, rejection, compromise and fear. This acknowledgement came as she let down her guard and poured out her broken heart before God, and He, in turn, began to pour out onto and into her His Love, Healing and Redeeming power. I am that woman. Truly one cannot be set free from what hinders or holds them bound until they become naked and unashamed before the only one who can bring them out and make all things new.

Fancy: So do you believe in transparency? Why or why not?
Debrayta: I absolutely do believe in transparency! I do my best to be as transparent as possible in the way I live my life and engage with others. In fact, I believe that it is extremely necessary for one to be transparent and authentic at all times in order to be and live FREE. Secrets and hidden things ruin relationships and cause inner turmoil. The enemy wants us to have them so he can use it against us and keep us from becoming all that God has destined us to be.
Fancy:Â What tips would give to those considering being a life coach?
Debrayta: Make sure that it’s something you are passionate about and truly see yourself being and enjoying. Don’t just DO coaching.
Become an expert in your specific field of interest. Invest in training, get yourself a coach.
Fancy: Tell us about your podcast.
Debrayta: My show/podcast is called Conversations That Fuel Your Journey. It started in 2012 but rebirthed in September 2017, I have always had a passion for hearing people’s stories/testimonies. I believe that it’s our stories from tragedy to survival that can uplift, empower and encourage others to keep going and even thrive. I create a safe and empowering atmosphere for other authors, speakers, leaders, and everyday people to come and share their stories concerning various life topics/matters.
Fancy: Do you have any upcoming events or projects that you care to share?
Debrayta: Every 1st & 3rd Sunday at 9pm is the broadcast of my show Conversations That Fuel Your Journey.
I am also in the creation stage of various projects, but I am not able to share the details at this time.
