Christina: What is your SwagHer? What makes Verna, Verna?
Dr. Verna: What is my SwagHer? Well, my SwagHer is a changemaker. I am the change that I want to see. What makes Verna, Verna? Is that I am a God-fearing woman, I pray constantly. He is my way maker. I thank God for my trials; they have made me a better mom, leader in my community as well as a mighty and fierce woman of God.
Christina: What got you into empowering young women? Why is that so important to you?
Dr. Verna: I started empowering young women because I wanted to make sure that young women know who they are through Christ, to let them know that They can do all things through Christ, which strengthens them and me. It doesn’t matter where you start. It only matters where and how you finish.
Christina: You have many empowering programs for young women, such as Casting Your Cares, Devine Creations, and Devine Prom Project. Can you tell us a little bit about each program?
Dr. Verna: All of my nonprofits are all catered to help young ladies through workshops, self – esteem, etiquette, counseling, and through providing help with free prom gowns.
Christina: What is “The Etiquette Professionals Network”?
Dr. Verna: “The Etiquette Professionals Network” is a network of etiquette and self-esteem certified professionals worldwide.
Christina: You are also an author of etiquette books. Where can they be purchased?Â
Dr. Verna: I am the author of several etiquette books, which provide self-help and personal development for young ladies around the world. All books can be purchased via amazon.com, and all of the proceeds are to help our nonprofit.
Christina: Please tell us about your modeling experiences. How did that change you as a person?
Dr. Verna: My modeling experience was a great experience, as I have learned that you must first love God. You must second really love yourself. It doesn’t matter what size you are. You must remember not to compare yourself to others. As well as strut your stuff on that runway!
Christina: If you could change one thing about your past, what would it be?Â
Dr. Verna: If I could have changed one thing about my past, it would not be anything. My mess has turned into a message.
Christina: You do so much! How do you keep up with it all? Do you practice self-care?Â
Dr. Verna: I am a huge advocate of self – care. I always make time for myself. My self-care routine is very simple: A) hot bubble baths, B) high tea, C)reading my word of God.
Christina: Do you have any upcoming events or projects you would like our readers to know about?
Dr. Verna: Yes, I am having our 12th Annual Debutante Ball and Gala, which I will honor men and women in the community with the (Purple Dress Award), which is an award that is dedicated to my best friend who passed away.
Christina: Is there anything else you would like to say?
Dr. Verna: I would like to thank my children and family that have continued to help me in the community for many years.
