Wednesday Wonder Woman: Jade Ladson

Jade Ladson is the sparkling personality behind J. Ladson Weddings. Known as “The Wedding Whisperer”, she turns anxious fiances into blushing brides with her reassuring spirit and seamless execution. Over the last 15+ years in the industry, Jade and her full-service wedding experience company have become the authority on all things love and matrimony. She’s been featured as Best of Atlanta and Best of Gwinnett as well as in Atlanta Tribune’s “Best Of” Issue for 5 years in a row. She is also the leader of Atlanta Weducated, which is one of the leading networks for wedding education. Still, Jade’s most-prized accomplishments are the magical moments she creates for her couples. Whether she’s pinning the boutonniere on your groom’s suit jacket, laying your train just right for you glide down the aisle, cueing the DJ for your first dance, or handing your father tissue during his tear-jerking toast- Jade takes pride in the details so you and your guests are left with the fondest memories of your special day. Outside of the bustling world of event planning, Jade is a dedicated mentor to teen girls through her organization, Jade’s Gems. She is also a proud mother to three children and three furbabies. In her downtime, you may find her on the Atlanta scene garnering her creative inspiration with good laughs and a fruity cocktail.

Christina: What is your SwagHer? What makes Jade, Jade?

Jade: I’m the “Wedding Whisperer”. Over the years I’ve developed a certain set of skills… Skills that have allowed me to adopt a sympathetic view of the motives, needs, and desires of couples that are getting married. No matter the situation, I can always find a way to diffuse it and bring a sense of calmness. The flower girl took the flowers out of her hair? No problem, let’s go for the messy look. Ring bearer can’t find one of his shoes? No problem, let’s roll those pants up and let him walk barefoot. There’s always a solution and most of the time guests actually enjoy the little surprise.

Christina: Why did you get into wedding planning?

Jade: As a young girl it was a hobby to plan “Mock Weddings” for my friends and as I got older it grew into a lucrative hobby where I planned weddings for friends and family members. Little did I know that it would turn into a corporation, but after missing out on my daughter’s first steps due to a hectic work schedule in Corporate America… I knew I had to take control of my life so I turned my hobby into a career. I got the necessary training, networked as if my life depended on it, and worked hard to build this empire.

Christina: What sort of services do you offer? Where can someone go to book you?

Jade: Wedding Planning & Coordinating, Wedding/Event Design, and Business Consulting. Visit my website at www.jladsonweddings.com or check me out on Instagram @Jladsonweddings.

Christina: If you had to pick three things you love about your job, what would they be?

Jade:

  1. Being trusted to be a part of such a special occasion.
  2. The lifelong friendships that develop. Every wedding I have done, I have remained friends with the couples. Even if it’s just on social media, I LOVE seeing couples have babies and grow together in their lives as one. I feel a special bond with each couple and I celebrate every milestone in their journey and love that they are also cheering me on!
  3. My clients – at the end of the day, it will always be the connections I make from spending weeks, months, and years helping a couple plan the best day of their lives!

Christina: You have been featured on Best of Atlanta for five years in a row. How did you feel when you were featured the first time?

Jade: I was totally shocked and believe it or not I was actually contemplating walking away from the industry on that day. I was laying in bed sulking when my phone started blowing up with all the notifications.

Christina: Tell us a little bit about your wedding education program, From Yes to the Honeymoon. What do you teach/offer?

Jade: I teach entry-level wedding planners how to successfully build a business and also how to plan a wedding From Yes to the Honeymoon.

Christina: You are around love all day, every day. If you could define love, how would you define it?

Jade: Love is caring so much about another individual that you want nothing but the best for them. Their happiness is your happiness, their fears are your fears, and their pain is your pain.

Christina: Do you have any upcoming events or projects you would like our readers to know about?

Jade: We’ve got a lot of weddings, but I’m just happy that all of my COVID brides are finally getting to celebrate their special day.

Christina: Is there anything else you would like to share?

Jade:

  • I once planned a wedding in 23 days.
  • Funniest Wedding Moment

Finding a naked maid of honor sleeping in the restroom. {Sometimes tequila really is the devil}.

  • Most Sentimental Wedding Moment

Seeing a father who couldn’t walk due to a stroke stand for his daughter’s first dance {They had to escort me to a private area to regain my composure}.

  • Scariest Wedding Moment

Being told by the Best Man that he left the rings on his dresser AFTER the ceremony had started. {I’ve never ran so fast in my life}.
