Fancy: How would you describe your swagher? What makes Kimberly, Kimberly?

Kimberly: Swag is all about confidence, and it shows up in my style and how to relate to the world. I am confident in who I am…..I can be described as a lover of God, powerful (because I know I can do anything I set my mind to), phenomenal (because I continue to defeat the challenges that seek to destroy me), compassionate, a motivated leader, humble servant, lover of music, a travelnista, foodie and lover of all things red!

Fancy: So how long have you been married?

Kimberly: I am not married, I am divorced. I have always been passionate about marriage and being a wife. So, you can imagine the devastation I experienced when I was faced with divorce. My divorce was the catalyst that led me to create The Wife University. I spent the last twenty years studying, researching, and being mentored so that I could share with women what I learned to help us become amazing wives and have successful marriages.

Fancy: How did you become known as The Wife Coach?

Kimberly: I became affectionately known as The Wife Coach because of the woman’s ministry leader at my church. I am always teaching and speaking on relationships, marriage, and being a proverbial woman and wife.

Fancy: What do you think makes you an exceptional wife?

Kimberly: An exceptional wife is a woman who is intentional in her role as a wife and knows that her marriage is a ministry. She is focused on meeting the needs of her husband, growing with him, seeking to always better herself as a wife, encouraging him to be a better man than he already is, keeps sex as a priority, respects her husband, is her husband’s best friend, knows how to make her home a haven, and is skilled in communication.

Fancy: I like that. So how did The Wife University come about?

Kimberly: Sometimes your pain births your passion. My divorce was such a great source of pain for me. It cut me to the core. The pain was not just about me but also about the devastation it was causing in all the lives around me. Divorce was ripping apart the lives of those I loved. It was hurting me, my son, his father, my faith. The pain was too great, and I got tired of carrying it. I threw up my hands and asked, “Now what Lord? How do I go on from here?” He answered, “You love love; you love relationships. You are passionate about being a wife.” So, it became a choice, “Will you choose to stay in your pain, or will you choose your passion?” It became clear to me that my future is a choice; it was up to me to create the future I wanted, and I chose to pursue love. Because of my choice my pain birthed my passion, The Wife University. And that is when my entrepreneurial journey began…. I became and I am The Wife Coach.

Fancy: What type of clients do you work with more, single or married women?

Kimberly: I have a pretty balanced client roster of both single and married women. I believe there is much work to do in both areas. As a single woman, it is never too early to start preparing for marriage. The sooner the better! For married women, I always encourage them to continue to be working on their “CEU” (Continuing Education Credits). You can always be improving your wife game even if you don’t have challenges in your marriage. We should always be evolving because our mate is and so will our marriage.

Fancy: I think what you are doing is great, but I am curious. What about the husbands?

Kimberly: Yes, men need help becoming better husbands too, most definitely. They are just as guilty of not doing enough preparation for marriage. And there are other coaches out there focused on helping men heal and preparing them for marriage.

Fancy: Are there any marriage/relationship or self-help books that you would suggest one read?

Kimberly: There are many great marriage/relationships books out there many of which I have read. Here are few that I have in my library:

· “Make Love, Make Money, Make It Last” by Willie Jolley

· “The Five Love Languages” by Gary Chapman

· “Love & Respect for a Lifetime“ by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs

· “Men Are from Mars and Women are from Venus” by John Gray

· “For Women Only” by Shaunti Feldhahn

· The Bible

Fancy: How do you balance being an entrepreneur and mother and finding time for self-care?

Kimberly: I find balance by being very intentional with my time. Balance doesn’t mean everything gets equal time. Balance for me means they both get focused attention. Some days or seasons one may get more time than the other, but it is all about quality, not quantity. I listen to my inner woman, and if I feel like one is being neglected, I quickly shift and re-prioritize. Always making sure that self-care is a part of my routine too because if I am not refreshed and rejuvenated, I am no good to anyone or anything.

Fancy: Do you have upcoming events or projects?

Kimberly: I will be speaking at “A Time to Heal Motherhood Conference” on Sunday, November 3rd, 2019 in Randallstown, MD.

In December 2019, “Inspired by Love” book launch, where I am one of the co-authors.

Kicking off 2020, is another book anthology, that I am a co-author of is called “Purpose Pushers”
