Wednesday Wonder Woman: La Donya Yvette

La Donya Yvette Hinson is a mother of four daughters, and whose fascination with butterflies as a young child, transformed her into a powerful, influential woman who was born to inspire and motivate others. As the founder and CEO of iWIN Global Inc, an inspirational movement all about G.I.R.L. PowHER and Living An Inspired Life, La Donya’s story is proof that no matter your circumstances you can overcome your fears and create the life you desire.

Fancy: How would you describe your swagher? What makes La Donya, La Donya?

La Donya: My swagher is beautiful, graceful, peaceful, inviting, and inspiring! I am your Voice of Inspiration. It is my own style that is uniquely mine. It is honoring humanity with my tenacity and desire to make a difference in the lives of others. I am a girl with a big heart, who loves butterflies, orchids, the colors yellow and pink, and who believes you must be relatable and transparent. This is my personality. It’s about building those solid relationships, so people can resonate with what you have to say and what you have to offer. Because when it comes from the heart, that is when you make the most impact.

Fancy: You mentioned how your story is proof that we can create the life we desire. Do you mind sharing some of your backstory? What was it that you had to overcome?

La Donya: It is true that your story is proof that you can create the life you absolutely desire, deserve and love. I experienced pain and trauma in my childhood that carried on into my adulthood. I survived the mental, emotional and physical scars through the Grace of God and the gift of inspiration. I had to forgive and release in order to live a happy and productive life. I understand that forgiveness is not forgetting. However, you cannot hold onto the act. Because if you do, you haven’t really truly forgiven. I also struggled with trust issues and low self-esteem. I wrote a chapter about this in a book called “I Survived” as a collaborating author. The pain that I went through elevated me towards my purpose. It’s about restoration.

For many years I knew there was a calling on my life because of what I went through in my past. I used to say I don’t like this or that about myself. I don’t like my voice; I didn’t even realize that I had a voice. I was always questioning who’s going to listen to me? What makes me so special? All I knew was that I had to be obedient to what God had placed in my spirit. So after realizing that if I kept saying those negative things about myself that I was essentially saying I don’t like what God created… and I couldn’t have that! I changed my mindset and began to love me for who I am, for who He created me to be.

I am now creating the life I want to live through the gift of inspiration. I believe what you went through is your story that needs to be told. I know now that my story does not belong to me… It belongs to the world.

Fancy: How did you discover your purpose?

La Donya: I discovered my purpose by learning and reflecting on my past and realizing that I want people to understand what I have come to know, that often times you may not understand some of the things that you went through, but it was necessary! Because it’s not only about what you’ve been through; it’s how you came through! As I look back, I was inspiring myself to deal with my pain, and I would find myself doing the same for others. It’s as if this is what I was born to do. Therefore, I want other women to know that it is possible to discover your purpose in the things you went through in life. These things may inspire you to change your future or be an advocate for something that you strongly believe in.

My purpose and passion are to speak life through the gift of inspiration and to empower women all over nations to transform them to be the best versions of themselves, also by helping them find their purpose, and to believe that they too can be an inspiration to others. My search and discovery of who and “whose” I am has allowed me to walk in my truth which revealed my purpose. By discovering my purpose, I learned that I am no longer a victim, but a victor spiritually led by God knowing that I am worthy of His promises for me to live a life of abundance and inspire others to live in their brilliance and lead with authority in order to leave a legacy of purpose.

Fancy: How would you describe your ideal client?

La Donya: My ideal clients are women who know in their heart that they have a purpose, but are struggling with past pain or hurts and are seeking how to navigate through their journey. Living an Inspired Life helps create the blueprint for a mindset change to ensure for a successful and healthy lifestyle.

Fancy: To what or who would you attribute your success?

La Donya: First and foremost, I must give honor to God. My faith has become the pathway towards my success. Also, my four daughters are my biggest inspirations. They are my “why” I continue to do what I do. I also invest in myself through personal development courses and events. I believe in consistency. I am constantly learning and growing on my journey to becoming. My mastermind coach has contributed a lot to my growth of walking boldly in confidence and stepping out of my comfort zone. I am also a graduate of the Dreamsteerer Academe’ in which I received so much clarity and focus as to bringing my dreams and visions to life. I also owe a lot to my creativity and commitment to myself. It’s a process that is well worth believing in.

Fancy: Do you have any tips for shifting your mindset to create the life you deserve?

La Donya: First, you have to know that you are worthy and believe in yourself knowing that you are enough. If you don’t quite have that belief in yourself, then borrow the belief from someone else who does believe in you and stay encouraged. Confidence is Key! Set boundaries and be comfortable with the fact that it is OK to say ‘no’. Boundaries are meant to protect you and your space.

Create what I call ‘in the moment’ memories. Be present by living in the moment. Life is too precious and too short to not be living in the now. Be more spontaneous, spend more time with family and friends, have a good laugh, take a selfie to capture the moment. Enjoy life!

Also, in order to get into position for a mindset change, you have to let go of things that are holding you back. It could mean getting rid of distractions, unhealthy relationships, along with whatever past pain you may be holding on to. One of the main ways to get through all of that is forgiveness. Being able to forgive yourself as well as others in order to move forward to create the life that you deserve. You have to be able to identify what those barriers are that’s stopping you from moving forward and reprogram your thought process to a better and more productive way of thinking. You have to release them. It’s about balance and harmony. The secret is to incorporate harmony in your life. I have learned that finding ways in order to balance things out takes more energy than it is to meet it in the middle and harmonize with whatever you’re dealing with. To have balance is learning to work through those challenges. To have harmony is to accept the challenges, understand, and embrace them in order to have peace within. Yes, to have balance is important; but the key to balance is harmony!

Focus on your passions. Some people wait their whole lives to start living. Waiting for the kids to get older or move out, waiting for the perfect opportunity, etc. Waiting for the right time for this or the right time for that only leads you to miss out on what you could be experiencing or creating. There will never be a ‘good time’… so the time is now! You have to be willing to give up what you are comfortable with and leave the land of Familiar in order be what you can become. Your life is your creation. Challenge yourself and get comfortable being uncomfortable. Your very best work, purpose, and experiences are in front of you, not behind you. If your past has passed, then let it truly stay in the past. And that’s real talk!

Whether you feel stuck or just need a good dose of inspiration to do your best work, all of these tips and more are in my book “Living An Inspired Life – The 5 Keys of G.R.A.CE.” which teaches you how to live your best life every day. It is a fact that when the pain of where you are is greater than the fear of where you are going, you will begin to change and move towards the direction of your dreams.

Fancy: How do you practice self-care?

La Donya: First, I wake up with a grateful heart, by the simple fact that I was blessed to open my eyes. Then I set the tone for my day. I meditate and declare how my day is going to begin and end. Because the challenges of life in the middle can create a lot of static, or noise as I call it, that will play tug of war with you if you allow it. So, it is important to create a space of peace to be able to conquer those challenges. I believe in order to go from good to great, you first have to be grateful. When I practice having the attitude of gratitude, I begin to develop a peace that surpasses all understanding. I feel like I can conquer the world. There is a calmness in my spirit. Even in troubled times, I feel powerful and it less affects me because of this mindset change. I also like to unplug and take some “me time” through either reading, traveling and going to the ocean when I can, or just relax at home.
