Fancy: So tell us a little about the Mica Nicole brand?
Mica Nicole: Mica Nicole The Brand is a mogul, and as I would say, I’m your boss’s boss.

Fancy: How did you get into play writing?
Mica Nicole: I started writing plays two years ago but I’ve been acting for many years and decided  it was time to put some of this real life and imagination on the stage.
Fancy: Did you imagine you “For Colored Girls Only†would have as much success as it has?
Mica Nicole: I never imagined “For Colored Girls Only†would have as much success as it has, but I always knew God had bigger plans for my life. “To whom much is given, much is required”, and I truly am blessed.
Fancy: I was looking at your work with Joe’s Paper Bag Project and the homeless. Did you experience due to homelessness yourself due to domestic violence?
Mica Nicole: Joe’s Paper Bag Project was started as a dedication to my favorite Uncle Joe who died on the street homeless. We had a very close relationship and he was my biggest supporter. Although, I have been homeless though not due to domestic violence, this foundation is in honor of my Uncle Joe.
Fancy: If you don’t mind sharing, how did you get out of your own situation?
Mica Nicole: In 2003, my mother visited me, and I was trying to hide a black eye from her that I had received earlier that day. My mother wouldn’t stop probing, and she could then look at me face to face and see that I had been hiding my abuse. My mother looked in my face and said,  “If you don’t leave, he is going to kill you, and I am not ready to bury my daughter.†Soon thereafter he tried to murder me after murdering my small dog. He had it out for me, and I didn’t want to die. So I called the police, made a report, and moved in with my mom. I saw him walking doing the street a few days later, and I followed behind him while on the phone with the police. The police came, and he was arrested. I never saw him again.
Fancy: What advice would you give to others who may be suffering from intimate partner abuse?
Mica Nicole: The advice I would give someone that is being abused is CHOOSE YOUR HAPPINESS FIRST!!
Fancy: Do you have any upcoming projects or events that you care to share?
Mica Nicole: I am always hosting events all over the United States promoting girl power, domestic violence awareness, and sisterhood, but you can catch my play “For Colored Girls Only†in a city near you in 2019, so please follow our activity on www.iammicanicole.com.
