What A Coup?!

Where were you when the first plane struck the first tower? Were you living in New Orleans when Katrina happened? What were you doing when security was “breached” at the Capitol. These three events will forever be ingrained in our minds. Only one was an act of domestic terrorism.

Domestic terrorism is the best way to name what I saw on my TV set. I had not watched the news since March 2020 but was summoned to my TV due to social media posts. I could not believe my eyes. I knew it was possible, and I knew it would happen one day, but January 6th was THE DAY. People were outraged by a sore loser and decided to take matters into their own hands. THIS IS AMERICA people. The place where a particular set of people do not feel they have to live by the rules of the land. They feel they own and built this place and have a right to be here. These people chanted along the lines that it belonged to them as they “breached” the Capitol, more like as they got let into the Capitol. I was pissed, to say the least, because when Black people rally, there are all types of security to make sure it is peaceful. When will they start policing their own? Such a stupid question to ask. As someone posted, you never ask where Hannah Montana is when Molly is on stage. They are one and the same.

As a black woman living in Texas, I wondered where does this leave me. If these people felt they could do this in DC, who knows what they feel they can get away with here. I am more on guard than ever before. People really feel they have the right to do and say what they want. This is what this administration has brought out. In a way, I am glad they are all out. Now we know who exactly they are. When January 20th comes, they will go back into their caves and under their masks.

Protests are in this country’s DNA. Hell, moving to this country was a protest for religious freedom. The protest was not the issue; it was the “breach” of security, the audacity, and liberties taken. One guy was on Nancy Poleski’s desk, posed for a selfie and her mail outside the Capitol. How was he not caught? There is another post that I have seen floating around.

“We do not want you to shoot them, like you shoot us. We want you to not shoot us, like you don’t shoot them”.

My community feels that if the shoe were on the other foot, first of all, they would have amped up security. Second of all, they would not have allowed them to get that close. Still, if we were that close, ain’t no breaching in security. Because none of us truly work in those positions to get all of their friends to move the barricades and let them run over them.

What a Coup?! A complete set up to try to intimidate the Government to give them four more years of Trump. After I was done fussing and cussing, I actually sat to pray. I prayed for this nation and those people. I prayed that they don’t try that with anyone who has grown fed up with their foolishness. What a disgrace!
