With growing knowledge, and demand for natural hair, Tina Fobbs has created the all-natural hair care line “phyre.” Providing consumers with a hair care product that specifically focuses on all-natural hair growth and therapy with the best results.

Patrice: What is your Swagher? What makes Tina, Tina?

Tina: I think a big part of what makes me, me is my unwavering determination. This is what sets me apart from everyone else. This year has really tested everything people claimed they were. I think my determination is one of the things that pushed me to have a successful year no matter what was happening around me.

Patrice: Your beauty brand looks amazing and I’m dying to learn more about pHyre Hair. The name speaks volume! What was the inspiration behind creating the business name?

Tina: Thank you so much!  I was just talking to my friend about what I was going to name it and she was like I don’t know but when people put this in their hair they’re going to be like “oh this is fire.” From there we were like that is it! It is pHyre! We just changed the spelling to emphasize the importance of pH balance.

Patrice: Tell us what the Grow my Hair Healthy Kit is.

Tina: The Grow My Hair Healy Kit, which includes Lavender Mint Hydrating Shampoo and Condition & Day 7 Maximum Hair Regrowth Oil, is the best option when it comes to thinning hair. The products contain the best natural ingredients including:

  1. Neem (The best herb for healthy hair growth & helps treat scalp issues like traction alopecia)
  2. Coconut (Increases shine & best for retaining moisture)
  3. Lavender- (Speeds up hair growth)
  4. Peppermint- (increases circulation for hair growth)

All these ingredients plus other herbs and oils known for their strengthening and hair growth stimulating properties have been merged into an exclusive combination to deliver the most reliable, safe and healthy results for women.

Patrice: Did you always have a passion in the hair and beauty industry?

Tina: Absolutely! I started out with dreams of doing hair. I went to cosmetology school at 16 and my first job was at a hair salon.  After two years I figured out I was not that great at styling! However, hair health was something that stuck with me throughout the years. I have always made my own products, but I was never serious about it until 2015.

Patrice: Are some of your products home-made as well?

Tina: The only product that I sell right now that is homemade is the Day 7 Hair Re-Growth Oil.

Patrice: How important is the wellness of learning about your hair routine and what products work best?

Tina: Learning what works for you is extremely important. What works for one person may not work for another. I rarely wear my hair straight. I am a curly girl. I condition my hair almost every day. (not wash). I switch between the Lavender Mint Conditioners and The Moroccan Sunrise. When you use the products, you will understand how the Lavender Mint makes your scalp feel AMAZING. You can feel the oils working on your scalp. The Moroccan Sunrise has a smell that is to die for. It is so addictive. It also makes my curls pop and shine more because of the Moroccan Argan Oil. I use the Day 7 oil every day on myself as well as my children.

Patrice: I want to talk about the Day 7 hair regrowth oil. Why the name Day 7?

Tina: I named it Day 7 because of my personal experience with it. When I first created it, it was after trying lots of different products. Planning to create my own oil was a big deal for me because it had to work. I was waiting and waiting but consistently using it. On the 6th or 7th was when I started to get excited because that is when I noticed I had a little peach fuzz growing in. At that time seeing peach fuzz was time for praise because I had zero edges.

Patrice: Out of all your products, which ones seem to be the customer’s favorite?

Tina: I get the most feedback, pictures, and testimonials about the Day 7 oil. It is so awesome. I have a customer who has Lupus and her hair is thinning. She started to use the oil back in August of 2020 and she is so happy right now. She calls it “sprouting” but after a month she had little hairs that started to grow back, and her bald spot was filling in. That is the part that I love.

Patrice: What is one business tip that you would give to rising business owners and entrepreneurs who are just starting out?

Tina: It is always hard for me to give just one tip because new business owners need so much! I guess I will gear this toward product-based businesses. Do not feel pressured to launch. Take time with your packaging and show that you care about the look. So many people encourage entrepreneurs to launch and not to worry about what things look like. That is not appropriate advice. Invest in packaging and branding. It gives your new company credibility and makes customers & large media outlets take you seriously. Media will be one of your keys to success. If journalists do not take you seriously then that could be an audience that you are missing out on just because you didn’t care what your packaging looked like.

Patrice: Has the pandemic affected your business at all?

Tina: I feel for all business owners during this pandemic. I was fortunate enough not to face too many challenges while launching pHyre Hair Co. I just went in with no fear and have not stopped. The one marketing aspect that I wish was different was the fact that I was not able to participate as a vendor at large events like The Essence Festival.

Patrice: Are you working on any new projects for pHyre Hair?

Tina: Absolutely. We are preparing to launch a new product and solidifying a couple of exciting new partnerships that I cannot wait to share!

Patrice: How does your hair care line stand out from others? What is next for pHyre Hair?

Tina: We have some exciting new products coming out over the next year, but I am more excited about how the way customers can purchase will change. Stay tuned for that!
