By 2027, the eyewear industry is projected to reach 197 billion dollars. Even with such a huge number, there are a very small number of minority eyewear designers and an even smaller number of designers who are Black.

Compared to white women, Black and Hispanic women have worse menopausal symptoms, with Black women having the longest duration of hot flashes and being most bothered by them, while both Black and Hispanic women experience poorer quality sleep, according to the Washington Post.
